11/17/2008 It's a mad house round here!
I had a rather irreverent giggle today....... Tiddler was racing a group of men at the karting track and when you log in your name is displayed on the information monitors. One of the men that Tiddler was racing had logged in as "GOD".
True to his usual form, Tiddler gave them a jolly good thrashing but I only realised how significant this was when Sparky turned to me at the end of the race and said......
"Tiddler did one more lap than GOD!!!!"
Now I'm sorry.......I don't care who you are.........that's pretty damn impressive!! ;o)
Sniggery type hugs Tootsie xx
10/19/2008 ROME: Part UnoHmmmmmm, well I've been to Rome before and was really looking forward to bringing Mum and Dad along to share the experience with them. Sadly our first impressions were tainted by the fact that our taxi didn't show up at the airport.
Having attempted to find an alternative taxi that could carry all five of us, and failed, we cringed at the idea of paying 120 euros for 2 taxis and decided to go into Rome by train. We found the station, bought four 11 euro train tickets and even managed to find the correct track, with the correct train on it......things were looking up........until the ticket inspector came along ;o(
Turns out that after you've bought your train ticket to Rome Termini you have to feed it into a machine to get it validated. We had failed to do this and found ourselves being fined by a very sullen ticket inspector. We were bloody sullen ourselves by the time we'd payed a 50 euro fine !!!!!
By the time we reached the Termini I can honestly say that I was feeling down in the dumps. The fantastic, once in a lifetime trip that I was determined would be as special as possible for Mum and Dad had started as badly as it possibly could ;o( We grabbed our bags and cases and dived off the train at which point a very kind man offered me a luggage trolley that he appeared to have finished with..........ooooooh NO!!!!
That would just have been tooooo easy!!!
Having piled all our luggage on the trolley he then proceeded to take it from Sparky and set off down the platform with it. Sparky immediately set off after him and as it happened this kindly old gentleman was intending to extort 40 euros from us for wheeling our luggage . OMG!!! These people really did see us coming!!!!
Anyway, we couldn't fiud a licenced taxi to carry us all to the hotel so we ended up piling into a delapidated van, with almost no upholstery, that did get us to our hotel........after the driver had nearly wet himself laughing over my gasps of horror at his driving!!!!
The hotel seems really nice with very helpful staff, who recommended a wonderful restaurant for dinner, and clean rooms . After dinner we took a stroll to the Piazza Navona where we were badgered to hell and back by hawkers and the beautiful Fountain of the Four Rivers was covered in scaffolding. We did have some beautiful ice cream but I have to admit to being more than happy to go to bed now, finish today as soon as possible and hope that tomorrow is better.
MUCH BETTER!!!!
Hugs Tootsie x

10/4/2008 He's done it again!!Tiddler has a new PB at the Karting track. The current fastest lap time for the track is 18.35 seconds and Tiddler achieved 18.37 seconds on Tuesday.
He's sooooooo close to breaking that record and he's so excited that he's getting closer and closer. Tomorrow is Grand Prix day and we've all got our fingers crossed for him, he'd love a podium place.
I love watching him race and, despite the fact that I'm suffering a severe case of MAN FLU, I can't wait to get down to the track in the morning. The two bars of Dark Chocolate Toblerone that Sparky bought me earlier are going a long way to making me feel better but I'm still going to need lots of coffee and TLC in order to make a full recovery. I may even need someone to make me bacon butties before I can get out of bed in the morning.
I went to see Russell Howard on Wednesday night and it was just as if he'd tailored his entire show for my benefit. He said........and I quote.........."Aren't bacon butties lovely? It's a slice of bread hugging a pig".
Awwwwwww isn't that cute? I'm gonna go all goooey every time I look at a bacon butty from now on :o)
Hugs Tootsie xx
9/29/2008 A Most Awesome WeekendOh boy have I been having fun ;o)
On Saturday night Pitfa and I celebrated our birthdays with a party........a combined 40th and 21st.
It was fantastic!
The original idea was to have a Barn Dance. When we discussed this with the manager of the venue it kinda grew and took on an altogether different genre. We had a wonderful Ceilidh Band, called The Aardvarks, who are amazingly versatile and specialise in folk-rock. They performed on a stage that was right next to the Bucking Bronco and the rifle range!!!! We had chilli, spicy jacket potatoes, sticky wings, burgers, hot dogs and.......for some........ a BIG sausage!!!
The highlight of the evening had to be the arrival of my Net-buddy who was as lovely as I suspected.........despite her stubborn insistence that she was anything but ;o) You're sussed missy.......lmao
Earlier in the week I was contemplating the fact that we were heading for the Go-kart track on Sunday. Tiddler has been nagging the life out of me for some time because he wanted me to go on the track with him and I have to say that I quite liked the idea. So, on Wednesday, whilst heading for the local supermarket, I diverted my car to the track and went on a karting session...... just me....... on my own. I loved it and I loved the look on the kid's faces, when I told them that I would be driving with them on Sunday, even more! I'm pleased and proud to say that my fastest lap was faster than Pitfa's and Chewie's, Pitfa's friend.
I had the most wonderful weekend and my thanks go out to everyone that played a part in making it so very, very special. 9/3/2008 Let's have an updateAre you sitting comfortably?......
Tiddler has gone back to school today and I'm resolute that I'm going to increase my blog output now that I've got a bit of peace and quiet. I've been far to sporadic with my postings this year and so you're gonna get more whether you want them or not!! ;o)
I've done some new photo albums this morning showing the pictures of Tiddler's room after we redecorated, as a surprise, while he was away with the school. He is a HUGE Kimi Raikonnen fan and was absolutely thrilled with his 'Ferrari' themed room.
Also in a new album are some photo's of Tiddler at the recent Test Day at Shenington Kart Track. We had a fantastic day! It was Tiddler's first session on an outdoor track and he thoroughly enjoyed the freedom of a more powerful kart and more room to play in ;o) To add to the fun Trash, Pitfa, Dragonboy and M & D joined Sparky and I as Tiddler's fan club and we were all impeccable behaved. There was no silliness at all!!! Well, ok, there was that thing with the Quavers............but apart from that we were as good as gold.......ish!!! lmfao
8/9/2008 Look @ him GO!!!The summer holidays are flying by and I can honestly say that I'm having a wonderful time.
Tiddler and Sparky have always enjoyed sitting together and watching the Grand Prix on a Sunday afternoon.......it being the one thing that they could normally do together between church services and choir practice. So when Tiddler decided to change to the Chapel choir at school, which meant the we'd got Sunday afternoon's free, Sparky decided to take Tiddler to our local Go Karting circuit as a treat.
TIDDLER LOVED IT!!!
Every other Saturday the circuit runs a RACE SCHOOL and Tiddler walks the circuit with the other drivers and then takes part in a few practice sessions to try and improve his lap time.......which is steadily improving. As well as Race School the circuit runs it's own Grand Prix series. On the first Sunday of the month the drivers sign on, do 5 practice laps and then spend the morning taking part in various heats, during which they score points for their finishing positions, and then the drivers with the highest scores compete in a final.
Tiddler decided that he wanted to take part in the August Grand Prix! He practiced really hard, even spending some of his birthday money on track time, had some one to one time with staff from the circuit and every time he went karting he improved his lap time. His personal best lap time came down from 22.40 seconds to 19.05 seconds, which put him at the bottom of the JUNIOR TOP 50 Fastest Laps so last Sunday he took part in his first Grand Prix. He had the most wonderful time, finishing 12th out of 14 drivers overall. A respectable position for his first race.
We waited around at the end to watch the other boys get their trophies and were completely stunned when we discovered that a few of the Dad's have the responsibility of choosing the 'Driver of the Day' and, for the Cadet class, they had chosen TIDDLER.
I WAS GOBSMACKED!!!
So, I am the very proud Mommy of a very happy boy. Tiddler has gone on to further improve his PB to 18.98 seconds, which puts him well and truly on the Junior Hall of Fame, and is taking a huge amount of pleasure out of practicing his overtaking skills on unsuspecting grown ups........he loves nothing more than lapping groups of boy racers ;o)
THAT'S MY BOY!!!!
Hugs Tootsie xx ;o) 7/25/2008 OMG!!! Literally........So ask me..........go on...........ask me...........
Who's got an audience with the POPE in October?
Can you guess? Can ya? HUH? HUH? HUH?
It's MEEEEEEEEEE!!!
Ok so it might not be something that excites all
of you but even still it's a kinda
"once in a lifetime"
thing innit?
He's told me not to dress up or go to any trouble.........obviously.......
and he's gonna have the kettle on .
Now you can't get more hospitable than that!!
Hugs Tootsie xx
ps. Yes I do know that I'm gonna burn in hell for taking the p*ss ;o)
I'll be changing my name from Tootsie to Toastie!!! lmao
7/13/2008 Oooooops!!CAN'T BELIEVE THAT IT'S BEEN SO LONG AGAIN......SOZ PEEPS ;O)
I've been so very busy just recently but that hasn't meant that there's been no time for fun........oooooooohh no!!
I treated Sparky to one of the hugest surprises EVER for his birthday. I organised a trip to Belfast to see Billy Connolly. IT WAS AWESOME!!
You know when something is funny but in a totally unexpected way or at a totally unexpected moment?
Billy's like that.
I want to compare it to when Jeremy Clarkson or Richard Hammond purposely crash their car into James May's car in Top Gear..........it doesn't do Billy credit but still they both make me laff in a sudden explosive example of hilarity. I can honestly say that I rocked with laughter.
Nearer to home it has been all change. Tiddler decided that it was time to take a break from choir for a while.......well it started off as being a break but it seems to be more permanent now. I suppose that, if I'm totally honest, it wasn't even Tiddler's decision. We went to choir one evening, just before half term, and I have to admit that I'd had one helluva day. Someone had been giving me an earbashing about the lady that's come onboard as my right hand gal in the Nearly New Uniform Shop. I was truly hacked off about this but I knew that there were a couple of things that I was going to have to talk to her about.......and wasn't looking forward to doing it. So, being in a somewhat volatile state anyway, it probably wasn't the best time for the assistant director of music, at choir, to start having a go at Tiddler. Now don't get me wrong.......it isn't that I object to people putting Tiddler in his place if he's out of order......I don't......except in this case he wasn't out of order and certainly didn't deserve the telling off that he got. I was putting out the drinks and biscuits and heard the beginning of the "discussion" and as the DoM was about to let rip I just stood up, snapped my fingers at Tiddler and said " We're outta here!!".
I reckon it would've been quite cool, if I hadn't been so damned angry. :os
Anyway, a break from choir was decided upon, mostly because the DoM didn't have the decency to return my call, and that quite quickly led Tiddler to explore the alternatives. Within a week he'd made enquiries at school about the possibility of joining the Chapel Choir and it's marvellous. He rehearses on a Thursday afternoon and a Sunday morning (during which the school provide tea/coffee and cake for waiting parents.....yummy!). A lot of the music is the same as he was singing at St Mary's but there are fewer choral pieces per service and more hymns. Consequently, the atmosphere at choir is more relaxed and Tiddler is getting more enjoyment out of it. Very important!!
We've reached my favourite time of year again now.........Summr Holidays!! YAY!!
The summer exams are over and done with, the results are out ;os and, most importantly, I've got 7 and a half weeks with Tiddler...........bliss! We spent this afternoon on the driving range at the local golf club and tomorrow we're off Karting and then Sparky has decided on a BBQ so........BRING ON THE SUN!!!!
Hope you're all well ;o)
Tootsie xx
